Where to be for the best snow this weekend! (8th – 10th of March)

Here is our "top picks" snow forecast for this weekend...

For those who want the short and sweet right up front, Utah and Colorado will be the places to be this weekend! Strong northern storms will drop south into the western US with strong dynamics, and these systems will draw on some at times subtropical moisture, which will mostly affect the southwest US, including to the greatest extent, Utah and even more so, Colorado. Some great 1-2 foot snowfalls are expected on Friday, with some sunshine coming out for an amazing Saturday in Colorado! Aspen-Snowmass and southwest Colorado will be the FRESH snow + sun "winners" on Saturday, and this is after about 4 feet of snow in Aspen during the last week! So, conditions will be amazing! More snow moves in mainly Saturday night and more sun pokes out on Sunday for both Utah and Colorado.

HERE IS MODEL SNOW OUTPUT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING (8th):

Light to moderate snow for Tahoe, same for Colorado, light across Utah and light to moderate for Colorado as 1 storm moves into the southwest US and sends snow across all areas, and another storm is dropping in from Canada, to Washington:

HERE IS MODEL SNOW OUTPUT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING (9th):

The above is depicting the effects from a strong and colder storm (good news for some rained on base elevations, even in Colorado). Again, Colorado is the top recipient of snow due to more moisture availability, and the storm is expected to strengthen as it crosses the divide, with northern Colorado resorts looking great as well, Friday evening and overnight when the wind flow shifts to west/ northwest across the mountains. Check your local forecasts for more details.

HERE IS MODEL SNOW OUTPUT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING (10th):

Saturday night most of the new snow is from California/ Tahoe and Mammoth to Utah, less for Colorado...
Moderate+ snow for Tahoe and Mammoth, lighter to Utah and Colorado for Sunday morning as most storm energy is hitting California, but most moisture is east and south of this system:

Moisture is more limited out west with the Saturday storm, more plentiful east over Colorado, where there will be less dynamics to use the moisture. Light to moderate snow for all areas from Tahoe-Mammoth, Utah, and to Colorado:

Either way, its looking like a great weekend!
