Wednesday morning October 30th, we are looking at the coldest temperatures ever recorded across the intermountain west this morning, as cold as -30f around Yellowstone Lake and near Big Piney in western Wyoming, -20 to -25 across portions of western Montana, and with the snow clearing out, its near zero in Aspen this morning with clouds and lingering snow, and -10 to -15 in colder Colorado valleys mainly north of the I-70 where clouds are clearing out, and -13 up on Berthoud Pass at 12,500 feet, with winds gusting to 25mph (wow, COLD)...

Today looks colder, not even reaching 20 today in Aspen, and the previous all-time October record cold day was 24f. This morning we have already beaten the all-time record cold October low temperature of 4f, with a -1 it looks like, and after a day staying in the teens for high temps (cold even if it was January), expect a very cold night tonight as winds drop off. Aspen could break the old all-time record cold temperature for October by 10 to 15 degrees, almost unheard of. Higher valleys above 9,000 feet should see low temps in the -15 to -20 range, and possibly colder in spots, breaking all-time records there as well, in fact, this airmass and storm is the coldest on record as well, pushing the climatology cold limits for all past systems in October.
