With below zero temperatures at 10,000 feet it’s no wonder that snowmaking at Bogus Basin has been great, and its looking like a lot of volume out of that snow gun! Snowmaking looks great but we lose some of the cold later tomorrow and Thursday for marginal to no snowmaking, marginal snowmaking Friday, then warmer Saturday the 2nd of November through the 8-10th, base elevation high temps mostly in the 40’s and 50’s through that period, then Pacific storms start moving in with rain and snow across the western US and Canada, snow for Bogus Basin!

LONGER RANGE OUTLOOK: We start to see warming temperatures around Halloween (by Friday) into early November as the action shifts more to the east coast/ eastern US. By around the 8th-10th of November we see some Pacific storms starting to line up and take aim at the western US and Canada, as large scale low pressure starts affecting the entire western US with mountain snow, probably colder than usual weather, and additional early season accumulations, also for Bogus Basin. Early to mid November looks busy with storms and snow all across the western US and southwest Canada.

Expect a colder and more snowy winter for Bogus Basin this season. I am thinking early openings possible on some great early season conditions. We are in a neutral ENSO pattern (no El Nino or La Nina), leaning to La Nina this winter 2019-2020 I would say. More details are coming. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly
