Updated for Wednesday Aug 12, 2020 -

Shorter Range:
We are under a high pressure ridge with a mostly dry southwest/ west wind flow aloft expected as low pressure approaches and passes to the north, for mostly sunny weather, and no thunderstorms expected in Aspen today and Thursday.

Longer Range:
Expect a resurgence of moisture from out of the south/ southwest for Friday and the weekend, through Monday and looking like all of next week, with thunderstorms and showers (mostly the afternoon type) expected for Aspen, helping to keep the foliage nice and green like it is now (the rest of August, regular thunderstorms and showers, daily). SEPTEMBER/ OCTOBER:
With the expected Neutral ENSO, likely becoming "La Nina" this fall, plus trends (not much "monsoon" activity for my farm clients across the Arizona/ California deserts) I am expecting that we will see below average thunderstorm and related shower activity for Aspen and western Colorado in September. Some early snows are more possible this season for Aspens higher terrain mainly (some possible in town as well), plus early cold temperature records, especially moving into October.

It is looking like a "La Nina" is in store for the fall/ winter... more to come... Chris Manly/ Meteorologist
