Breckenridge Ski Resort Discussion
Updated Sunday May 27, 2018-

Today through Tuesday we expect another low pressure system to approach the state today, linger overhead with extra instability and moisture on Monday, then exit on Tuesday, with increasing instability and thunderstorm potential, but mainly for Monday as the low stalls out over the area and draws moisture out of the east. Cooling and more clouds are expected mainly Monday, with another round of showers in the Aspen/ Roaring Fork River Valley area, along with the rest of western Colorado. With the drying winds the showers are good to see.

Mid through late net week (moving into June) we expect high pressure ridging to build in, with an increasing south flow of air as we approach late week, and helped along by an approaching low pressure system approaching Colorado from the west, for increasing moisture from the Gulf of Mexico to fire off some summer type thunderstorms across Colorado and the Roaring Fork Valley/ Aspen-Snowmass.

LONGER RANGE: Next weekend the previously mentioned low pressure system crosses mainly to the north, driving a drier west flow of winds into Colorado to end thunderstorms for most places west of the Great Divide, including Aspen. Further out, continued persistent low pressure will frequently affect the west coast and Colorado right through mid-June, with late season upper-mountain snowfalls possible at times for Aspen and western Colorado due to some colder Gulf of Alaska origin storms moving in, plus increased thunderstorms and showers at times in advance of these events.
