the Western Wyoming Mountains...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Western and Central Wyoming.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight.

Snow intensity increases by mid-afternoon Friday across western
Wyoming, with occasional snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour in
the mountains through early Friday evening. Light snow then spreads
to Sweetwater County and I-80 overnight. Please see Winter Weather
Advisory and forecasts for details.

Gusty to occasional strong southwest wind likely across many
locations east of the Continental Divide. Isolated gusts around 60
mph possible along the east slopes of the Bighorn Mountains Friday
afternoon.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Saturday and Saturday night...Snow continues across the western
Wyoming mountains. A cold front pushes south across the state and
temporarily brings an end to the unseasonably warm weather. Light
snow occurs over the lower elevations east of the Continental Divide
overnight into Sunday morning. Strong northwest wind likely in
northern portions of the Big Horn Basin and Johnson County behind the
cold front.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 14
  inches, with amounts of 14 to 20 inches at the higher elevations.
  Some of the highest peaks may see isolated amounts nearing 2 feet.
  Winds from the southwest at 15 to 25 mph with periodic gusts of 25
  to 35 mph.

* WHERE...Wind River Mountains West, Absaroka Mountains, Teton and
  Gros Ventre Mountains, and Salt River and Wyoming Ranges.

* WHEN...Until 5 PM MST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult, especially across
  mountain passes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow totals of 3 to 6 inches on South Pass
  and 6 to 12 inches on Togwotee Pass and Teton Passes. Advisories
  have been extended through Saturday evening due to a second push
  of snow that will arrive early Saturday morning and linger into
  the afternoon.
