EVENING...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central New York.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

   Heat Advisory.

Also, there is a marginal risk for severe storms today, which may
produce heavy rain, damaging winds and hail.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

The severe thunderstorm risk continues on Friday, as a stronger cold
front brings more organized thunderstorms to the area..

Also, the heat and humidity continues on Friday, with peak heat
indices potentially reaching 95 to 100 degrees in valley locations.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values between 95F and 99F.

* WHERE...Broome, Chemung, Onondaga, Schuyler, Seneca, Southern
  Cayuga, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, and Yates Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
