...HIGH IMPACT LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND WINDS FOR THE THANKSGIVING
HOLIDAY...

.Heavy lake effect snow and strong winds will combine to create
dangerous travel at times across parts of northern Michigan late
Wednesday through Friday. Worst widespread travel conditions are
expected Wednesday evening into Thursday morning with continued
heavy lake effect across parts of the area through Friday.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM WEDNESDAY TO 7 AM EST
THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Snow and strong winds expected. Total snow accumulations
  between 2 and 5 inches. Lesser amounts along the immediate
  lakeshore. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...Benzie, Leelanau, and Manistee Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM Wednesday to 7 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Snow and strong winds will lead to significant drops in
  visibility. Whiteout conditions are expected at times of heaviest
  snow and winds, most likely Wednesday evening into Thursday
  morning. Combination of visibility restrictions and snow covered
  roads will make for dangerous travel at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

* WHAT...Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph
  expected.

* WHERE...Beaver Island and surrounding islands, and Benzie, Grand
  Traverse, Leelanau, Manistee, and Wexford Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM Wednesday to 7 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds will blow around loose objects, including
  blowing and drifting snow. Tree limbs could be blown down and a
  few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially in
combination with snowfall. Use extra caution.
