This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Colorado, southwest
Colorado, west central Colorado, east central Utah, northeast Utah
and southeast Utah.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop late this morning
and afternoon, favoring the higher terrain initially with coverage
becoming more widespread into the lower valleys late this afternoon
and evening. Storms are likely to continue through the overnight
hours. Threats from these storms are gusty winds, frequent lightning,
small hail and brief heavy rain with localized flash flooding on or
near recent burn scars.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread to numerous Thursday
and Friday as a disturbance moves through the region with wetting
rain more likely. Some storms could be strong to severe on Thursday
with strong gusty winds, hail and heavy rain possible. Coverage
returns to isolated to scattered Saturday before drying out Sunday.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN ARCHULETA COUNTY
THROUGH 345 PM MDT...

At 313 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10
miles west of Pagosa Springs, or 24 miles northwest of Dulce, moving
northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Pagosa Springs and Chimney Rock.

This includes U.S. Highway 160 in Colorado between mile markers 129
and 136, between mile markers 138 and 141, and between mile markers
148 and 151.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY
EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest and west-central Colorado, as well
  as portions of eastern Utah. Recent burn scars, including Deer
  Creek, Lee, Elk, South Rim, Turner Gulch, and Stoner Mesa, will be
  the most susceptible.

* WHEN...From Thursday morning through Thursday evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff from strong thunderstorms may result in
  debris flows and flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other
  low-lying and flood-prone locations.
