URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Juneau AK 1030 AM AKST Sat Dec 6 2025 ...SNOW FOR THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE THIS WEEKEND... .A pattern change is bringing colder temperatures and strong outflow winds extending southward through the weekend. This pattern, in combination with prolonged moisture, is producing accumulating heavy snow for the Haines and Klondike highways and communities of the northern panhandle and the northeast Gulf coast as of early Saturday morning. The snow forecast for the Icy Strait Corridor has begun as the arctic boundary has moved to Gustavus- Juneau area Saturday morning. The next band of heavier precipitation is expected to move through tonight into Sunday morning. Snow is also expected to become lighter and less dense as the event goes on following the drying trend. Cold temperatures are expected to continue to spread southward into early next week, increasing potential for a long duration snowfall event.
