WEATHER DISCUSSION - Monday March 31, 2024 -

Strong Gulf of Alaska low pressure moves in with some respectable snowfall today as energy is focused across the region, though more moisture limited than expected. This system starts to drop south on Tuesday, with lighter snowfall, and the same trend is expected Wednesday, as the last blast of this large scale trough is exiting. By Thursday and through the weekend a high pressure ridge centered over the Northwest US takes hold and delivers sunny spring weather to Bogus Basin, with some of the deepest snow for this time of year, and spring conditions expected as the season winds down. LONGER RANGE.

More good snowfalls are likely through the rest of April (mixed in with the usual April/ Spring warm-ups in between), and mostly after the 10th, as it looks like this ridge may hang on for a while. Overall however, we are likely going to see winter-esque weather drag on (more than usual) a bit into late spring/ early summer. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly

WEATHER DISCUSSION - Friday March 28, 2024 -

Temperatures have steadily dropped and will stay cold today and Saturday, with some light to moderate snowfall expected to help kick start the fresh snow on the slopes, with more snow on Sunday as low pressure sits offshore of the Pacific Northwest, and sends weather disturbances through. Next week is looking very promising with stronger and colder storm systems expected, the best/ strongest of which will move in on Wednesday and Thursday (Moisture charts for Wednesday show a good "river" of moisture on tap, and cold temperatures for heavy snow, will have to watch snow levels...), with snow day criteria or more expected (multiple feet possible). LONGER RANGE.

Snow is expected daily all next week, with some heavy snowfalls expected, then next weekend (5-6 April) expect strong high pressure across the Pacific Northwest, with warmer temperatures and sunny skies. More good snowfalls are likely through the rest of April (mixed in with the usual April/ Spring warm-ups in between). We are likely going to see winter-esque weather drag on (more than usual) a bit into late spring/ early summer. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly

WEATHER DISCUSSION - Tuesday March 25, 2024 -

Today and Wednesday look mostly sunny and very spring-like, base is down to 91" from 102", so get out there. Sun angles are yielding warmer sunshine so be ready for that also. Wednesday night and Thursday look messy with snow levels an issue, some snow, base rain, as low pressure approaches, then Friday and Saturday we get some light to moderate snowfalls to kick start the slopes again, then a heavier snow on Sunday is most promising with maybe half a foot of snow as stronger and more large-scale low pressure moves into the region/ Pacific Northwest.

LONGER RANGE.

From the last discussion: "Late next week and that weekend (27 Mar through 30-31 March) expect another round of slope-freshening goodness (snow)" <- ON TRACK, then in early April (all next week), expect more snow, daily, to add some more fresh powder days to your season! We expect another warm-up and sunny skies under strong high pressure ridging across the Pacific Northwest after next week (around the 5th-ish of April). This should last a few days or so, then more good snowfalls are likely through April (mixed in with the usual April/ Spring warm-ups in between. We are likely going to see winter-esque weather drag on (more than usual) a bit into late spring/ early summer. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly

WEATHER DISCUSSION - Thursday March 20, 2024 -

The mountain is currently being transformed back to mid-winter conditions, with heavy snow as of 3:33 am. More snow is expected today through Saturday, with good moisture and mostly Pacific Northwest focused storms bringing upper-level energy and mostly favorable orographics. Expect blowing and drifting snow at times with windy conditions today and Friday. Winter is far from over. By Sunday (March 23rd) expect a blue-bird sunshine day under high pressure ridging. This lasts through next Wednesday, with more spring-like conditions developing as high temperatures pop up above freezing, and sun angles yield warmer sunshine.

LONGER RANGE.

Late next week and that weekend (27 Mar through 30-31 March) expect another round of slope-freshening goodness (snow), then in early April, we may see a bit of a warm-up and sunny skies under strong high pressure ridging across the Pacific Northwest. We are likely going to see winter-esque weather drag on (more than usual) a bit into late spring/ early summer. Meteorologist/ Chris Manly
