Virginia, northern and central Virginia, and central and western
Maryland.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect tonight for the Blue Ridge
Mountains and the central Shenandoah Valley tonight.

Elsewhere, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

The cold weather headlines continue until 1 PM Sunday.

There is a slight winter storm threat from late Tuesday night
into Wednesday. If this threat materializes, there may be travel
disruptions.

...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills of 8 below to 16 below in the
  valleys, and 15 below to 30 below on the ridges.

* WHERE...Portions of western Maryland, central, northwest, and
  western Virginia, and eastern West Virginia.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...The cold weather could result in hypothermia or
  frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
