The West Central Montana Avalanche Center in Missoula has issued a
BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING for the following areas:

NWS Missoula MT -
MTZ006 (MTZ006)...MTZ043 (MTZ043)

* WHAT...Avalanche danger will rise to high today with a significant rain on
snow event.

* WHERE...The Bitterroot mountains from Lost Trail Pass to Lolo Pass, the
Rattlesnake, and the Seeley Lake area.

* WHEN...In effect from Sun 06:48 MST to Mon 06:48 MST.

* IMPACTS...Rain falling on snow at all elevations and rapid warming will
lead to dangerous avalanche conditions.

* PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Very dangerous avalanche
conditions. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Avalanches may
run long distances and can run into mature forests, valley floors, or flat
terrain.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM MST MONDAY ABOVE
5000 FEET...

* WHAT...Snow above 5000 feet. Likelihood of developing or ongoing
  moderate impacts from 3 to 6 inches of snow is greater than 90
  percent. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Highway 93 Sula to Lost Trail Pass and Lolo Pass.

* WHEN...Until 8 AM MST Monday.

* IMPACTS...For MODERATE impacts from snow, expect disruptions to
  normal activities. Hazardous traveling conditions. Use extra
  caution while driving. Closures and disruptions to infrastructure
  may occur. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday
  morning commute, especially over higher passes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road
conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and/or snowmelt and/or ice jam
  continues to be possible.

* WHERE...Portions of western Montana, including the following
  counties: Flathead, Lake, Lincoln, Sanders, Granite, Mineral,
  Missoula and Ravalli.

* WHEN...Through Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks,
  streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and
  streams may rise out of their banks from ice jam releases.
  Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas, including
  basements and crawlspaces.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - An atmospheric river will bring a significant warm up along
    with widespread rain through Monday, February 24. High
    temperatures will reach into the 40s, with overnight
    temperatures staying above freezing, increasing area snowmelt
    and runoff and introducing the risk for ice jam releases.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flood Warnings be issued.

Prevent Roof & Gutter Issues: Clear gutters and downspouts to allow
proper drainage and reduce the risk of ice dams and leaks.

Remove snow from roofs where safely able to do so.

Prevent Water Ponding & Flooding: Move snow away from home
foundations and clear window wells, to ensure proper drainage.

Be Aware of Standing Water on Roads: Avoid driving through flooded
areas and be cautious of changing conditions.
