Total new snow accumulations are forecast to be 5 to 7 inches for the southwest mountains, 4 to 6 inches for the peaks of the central mountains and the Pikes Peak region, and up to 3 inches for the remainder of the higher terrain. The Palmer Divide and Monument Hill may receive 2 to 4 inches of new snow through the day today, but it will likely be a very wet and slushy snowfall. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible across the far eastern plains this afternoon, beginning around noon and lasting until 8 or 9 PM this evening. The main threat from any storms that do develop will be small hail, wind gusts to 40 mph and cloud to ground lightning. There is a slight chance that one or two of these storms may become strong, producing dime-sized hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday For Friday and Saturday, a messy Spring storm system is expected. Precipitation will increase Friday, with heavier snow starting to develop late Friday and persist into Saturday morning for the southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains, southern I-25 corridor, and Raton Mesa area. Roads will likely become slushy and slick Friday night, and with the heavy and wet nature of the snow, along with gusty winds, some strain to infrastructure and trees will be possibe. Precipitation will start to clear out late Saturday. Sunday and beyond, dry conditions are expected for most, with isolated light snow showers possible along the mountains. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
