...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of California, including the following areas,
  Greater Lake Tahoe Area and Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra
  Counties and western Nevada, including the following area, Greater
  Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN...Through Tuesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff will result in rapid rises and
  potential flooding of rivers, creeks and streams, as well as poor
  drainage and urban areas. Minor to moderate mainstem river
  flooding is currently forecast along the Pit river below Canby,
  the Susan River at Susanville, and Middle Fork of the Feather
  rivers near Portola. Other rivers in the area are forecast to rise
  significantly, but not currently expected to exceed flood stages.
  Recent burn areas including the Davis in Washoe County, the Bear
  in Sierra County, and the Mill in Plumas County, are prone to
  increased runoff and transport of sediment. Sediment from burns
  may plug drainages and result in flooding in unexpected areas.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

...LAKE WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM PST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph and
  waves 2 to 5 feet.

* WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM PST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to
  capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions
  improve.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds may decrease at times as persistent
  rain spreads over the lake today into late tonight, but overall
  lake conditions will remain choppy with a further increase in
  winds likely for Sunday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a
sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing
boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind.

BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING

IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED

05:15 PST Sat Feb 01 2025

The Sierra Avalanche Center in Truckee has issued a BACKCOUNTRY
AVALANCHE WARNING for the following areas:
NWS Reno NV - NVZ002 (Greater Lake Tahoe)...CAZ072 (Greater Lake Tahoe (CA))

* WHAT...The avalanche danger is HIGH in the backcountry beginning
  early Saturday morning and may remain HIGH through the weekend.

* WHERE...Central Sierra Nevada Mountains between Yuba Pass (Hwy
  49) on the north  and Ebbetts Pass (Hwy 4) on the south,
  including the greater Lake Tahoe area. This does not include ski
  areas and highways where avalanche mitigation programs exist.

* WHEN...In effect from Sat 05:15 PST to Sun 05:15 PST.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous avalanche conditions exist in the mountains
  due to intense rain,  heavy snow, and strong winds. Widespread
  avalanche activity is very likely. Large avalanches could bury
  people and injure people.

* PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Traveling in, near, or
  below backcountry avalanche terrain is not recommended.
